A Poem

I’d rather be alone

Than with misery

I won’t miss you

But you might miss me

That’s not my problem

You made the bed

Now lay down and rest your head

I’ve pulled my last thread

Listened to every yarn you’ve spun

What you did can’t be undone

The battle can’t be won

So I retreat into solitude

Some day I may forgive you

But I still have to protect my heart

And if that means not knowing you

So be it

I will sit and watch the sun rise alone

Better to be with just me

Than with a heart of stone

This feels strong and calm, like choosing peace over heartbreak.
