Raspberry Martini

a vivid berry

By J. ElizabethPublished 3 years ago Updated 3 years ago 1 min read

Pink frothy martinis

spilling over

with vodka-soaked raspberries

and candied lemon curls.

Your hand curled around mine,

half-moon fingers.

Blue light behind the bar,

purple crescent halos in your eyes,

a cut-glass crystal goblet in your smile.

Walking home at closing time,

giddy with the magic

of half-dimmed streetlights

and silver-rimmed stoplights.

Dancing on the corners,

you and me and the thing

between us with teeth.

Betrayal is a vivid berry

bursting with oversweet juice

and flies.
