rare

that’s what you were to me

you looked for me everywhere

even if you knew my return time

did that mean you cared

like I thought you did?

---

you were looking for me in the bathroom

yet you couldn’t see me

from the perspective of an approaching car

my broken bird wings

---

too transparent to notice

too terrifying to look at me

when I was tearing my soul apart

in front of you

---

I never wanted to involve you like this

because we were never properly introduced

yet you strode with me every time

anywhere and in any weather

---

I hear your soul speaking to mine

whenever you can hear it for yourself

I’m not sure you realise

how deeply you rooted in me

---

maybe you would distance yourself, run away

if you really saw

how close I managed to bury myself in you

connecting the available dots

---

with truthful intentions and sincere gestures

as I would never allow myself

act maliciously on acts of kindness

sinking deep into me

---
