For so long, she wiped people's footprints off herself. She cut off limbs to give to others. Sewed up the holes their words left. Looking in the mirror, beaten and battered, she painted it new. She painted a girl who demanded respect. She painted a girl who was soft and strong. Brave with boundaries. And as she took a step back, her skin glowed clear. Her body whole. Her stitches gone.
She knew, as the sun set and rose, as the days would go on, she was that painted girl.
And in all her colour, she breathed rainbows of respect.
