Artist Statement: The Spectrum of Us

"Rainbow Reflections" is more than a song; it is a sonic and visual reclamation of the space between the binaries. In a world that often demands we choose a single "lane" or a "brittle script" of either/or, this project celebrates the "mixed genre" reality of the human soul.

The visual journey of the song begins in the Grayscale Logic of rigid, faceless judgmental world that narrows what is naturally wide. This clinical landscape mirrors the times we feel pressured to minimize our own complexity to fit into "narrow steps".

The turning point, The Spill represents the moment we stop asking for permission to be valid. Using the imagery of bioluminescent paint dissolving urban barriers, the video illustrates how our individual truth can "infect" a dull world with light. My own journey, enriched by the discovery of a heritage as diverse and layered as a prism, inspired the central metaphor: we are not just one color; we are the runoff of storms turned living color.

"Rainbow Reflections" serves as an anthem for the "storm blessed". Many people overlook complexities and accept partial stories, but those who notice the world's nuances see it change.

Rainbow Reflections

People are Blended as Rainbow Reflections’

Individuals who attempt to judge who is valid, permitted, or “right” often find themselves caught up in their own contradictions. They complicate what is naturally simple. They narrow what is naturally wide. They grayscale what is naturally rainbow.

They walk in blank space logic,

narrow steps on a color drenched earth,

while we rise from the paint bucket

mixed genre rainbows, storm blessed and whole.

Their world cracks under the weight of its limits;

ours widens with every hue we breathe.

Some move through life with their eyes half closed,

naming shadows as truth while color hums around them.

They cling to the brittle script of either/or,

but the spectrum keeps widening,

and the paint keeps spilling,

and the world keeps blooming beyond their reach.

They walk in blank space logic,

narrow steps on a rainbow soaked earth,

while we rise from the paint bucket

runoff of storms turned living color.

Their world cracks under the weight of its limits;

ours widens into arcs of light they cannot name.

Some move through life with their eyes half closed,

missing the rainbows humming at the edges of everything.

They cling to the brittle script of either/or,

but the sky keeps bending light into truth,

and the paint keeps spilling into color,

and the world keeps blooming beyond their reach.

And still the rainbows gather after every storm,

quiet arcs reclaiming the sky with ease.

We step into their widening light,

paint bucket souls rinsed clean of fear.

Where others see borders, we see gradients

the world forever shifting into fuller color.

    This is such a powerful and vibrant celebration of complexity and identity and I love how you used color and light as a metaphor for breaking free from rigid thinking.
