I have a rainbow inside me

People may label me yellow, black, or

white

Just by looking at me on the outside

People may call it race

Ethnicity

Nationality

Or whatchamacallit on the outside

But I have a rainbow inside me.

It was pouring inside

Raindrops falling into my heart

Pounding on each vessel

Hard and sound

From the dark clouds of worries and

agonies

And the likes of questions

‘Am I welcome here?’

‘Am I unique enough to be interesting?’

When the rain finally stops

The warm sunlight shines

And my rainbow inside me

Shows up.

I have red love

Orange courage

Yellow hello

Green grin

Blue blues

Indigo fear

Purple madness.

Each seeping through my skin

I become a prism under the sun

Honoring each color

And together

It becomes a rainbow inside me.

And you know what?

I thought I was the only one who had

the rainbow

But now I know

You do too.

I honor each color of yours

And you do too

And we become

A full circled rainbow

That each color is ditinct and different

But together

We make a beautiful rainbow.
