Rainbow Girl

by Claire TalyBont (Claire Wiggins)

By Claire WigginsPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Tiny Pink 2 pounder I, only 6 months in the making

Realising, as Orange tints the skyline, as stars retreat, as backs turn, you’re on your own baby!

Unwanted, thrown out Red flesh, caught just in time, a second glance, by chance, then

Escaping into Golden life, a little Rainbow girl sliding

Cross a Green rubber sheet.

Older age brings wiser shades of Grey and other ways of being free

Looking back, bleak, Black school thoughts

Of me, my warm tears pressed on cold Cream painted stone, still, alone, memorising my poem as punishment

Reciting verse in Mistress’s dark Brown lair, but look! there’s a

Silver lining now, indeed, for I birth poetry from my Rainbow Soul

performance poetry
