a heart, could it ever be tired? like my feet are from running
endlessly finding shelter from a storm that won't end
been carrying weight, lived searching for more
as if I can take more of it,
as if I don't have enough of it.
both hands are numb now from switching
left and right holding an umbrella big enough to cover the world
that wants to take it off, take it off.
It is not what it needs, all of this; useless weight
what to do? this body knows
running, hiding, and defending,
it dances alone.
mother told me chaos and celebration sounded the same
they are both loud.
father told me joy and anger felt almost the same
they both push something out of us, making ourselves erupt.
Are you sure that the rain poured out for you to hide yourself from it?
or maybe, just maybe it's God's way of touching you
but you are not allowing it.
or maybe, just maybe it's not stopping because
it hasn't given up on you yet, it's still looking for you
it's still pouring, see?
What are you doing?
all soaked up, take all of it off
run and dance barefoot!
open and sing your heart out!
Look up for God's sake.
it will take a lifetime of pouring to wash away what a heartbreak left me,
"You are beautiful with it," he said. The person who gave us the scars is different from the one who will make us see that we are beautiful with them.
there are cases it's the same person,
and sometimes it's just us; ourselves.
whatever it is; let it rain.

That opening is so beautifully thoughtful. The link between the heart and the feet, and introducing us to movement. A tiring one. I am intrigued to see where this poem goes. ‘An umbrella big enough to cover the world’ wow! That is deep! Chaos and celebration. Okay you’re getting my mind to go places it’s never been. I am learning a lot from your poem. What a wise father. I am blown away jui, indeed let it rain. I love how raw this was, how your unique voice came through like a calming breath. Amazing! 👌🏽
A well washed poem! Fresca! So great!
Truly moving and the sustained rain metaphor is precise and strangely inviting. Very good work indeed.
