Quotidian Dilemma

How do we find meaning in the daily grind?

Dishes lurk

Insurance irritates

Supper fumbles

Taxes equivocate

Recycling proliferates

Appointment urges

Clutter reclaims

Toilet purges

Invoice obtains

Offspring spends

Never never never ends

About the Creator

Sonia Heidi Unruh

I love: my husband and children; all who claim me as family or friend; the first bite of chocolate; the last blue before sunset; solving puzzles; stroking cats; finding myself by writing; losing myself in reading; the Creator who is love.

That double acrostic was brilliant. I needed help to find it, but I really appreciate that you included it. It adds a lot to the overall takeaway, a sense of redemption to the mundane or irritating tasks of life that get us thinking negatively. Its hidden nature reflects reality; you really have to look to find any sense of positive grounding for what may bother you and consume your mind. And reflected in a spiritual sense too, as God doesn’t scream at us what he wants us to hear and know; we have to tweak our perspectives just enough to be able to hear Him.

  • well constructed :)

Brilliant, Sonia! I also enjoyed the pace you've managed with this one - it feels as though there is no rest for the eyes, the mind or the soul... and yet, tucked away behind all that is purpose? Bravo indeed!

  • The meaning is always to be best found in the quotidian. If we're looking for it elsewhere, we're likely to miss it.
