Queer imagination
And so I rolled up my sleeves
and met the canvas of my mind
with the paint of my fears
Every colour was a story
Some good
Some bad
sometimes I stroked
sometimes I slashed
sometimes I punched a hole through it
and sometimes
just sometimes
I was caught off guard by a shade of cerulean, or peach, or burgundy
as if being reminded that I haven’t seen all the colours
Invalidating all my sureness with its newness
This canvas
that I lug
sometimes feels so unbearable
but it is the most beautiful painting
It is my colourful ode to all the beauty around me
All the suffering
All those who came before me
and fought with colours so beautiful
they changed the world
Because
Queer imagination
Is medicine for the world
And my love
Is a masterpiece
