Putting Down The Toilet Seat

A Stream of Conciousness Poem

There are three men in my office

A third of the professional population

A quarter or less, depending on the day

There is one, unisex, bathroom

Is it so hard to put down the seat?

One is married, and a father of boys,

Does he model this minor consideration at home?

Or assume that as the majority, he should leave the seat up?

Even when, at the office, he is the minority?

One lives alone.

He is more forgivable, it's probably just habit

I don't know about the third, who at least has a girlfriend.

Perhaps they have seperate bathrooms

Is it so hard to flip the seat back down after you use it?

We're busy, too

And it's even odds if the men might need to go sitting down

or standing up.

Either way, it's basic manners.

Stream of Consciousness
