pussy cats with claws

scratching at dark thoughts in the moonlight

in my every waking and sleeping dream they come

the feline, four footed feral and feracious furballs,

cats..... lions, tigers, leopards. ligers and pussy cats

all a personification of my inner turmoil

my claws used to be hidden, unobserved and obscured

not quick to angry retaliation for wrongs or taunts

for ignorance, disregard, human folly or banality

i once had full control of these sharpened appendages

only, i fear that they now possess a mind all their own

my patience has worn thin

the moon is full tonight, magical and mystical...she calls

my dreams are embroiled in a tintinnabulation of joy and fury

sharpened claws now will come out with the least bit of

provocation or malice with or without direct intent to annoy

though cats are cute, cuddly, huggable and positively

adorable when they ........................MEOW!!!

beware the hidden claws hidden ever so superficially

waiting just below the surface, to pounce and scratch

all around us, unfairness, bias, prejudice and jealousy

intertwine and rear their ugly little heads

in dreams, my claws they are forever fighting and clamoring

for recognition, for truth and for justice for one and all

these claws may be bared by the gentle pussy cat without

who comes bestowed and blessed with nine whole lives....

BUT beware, the snarling tigress hidden deep within!

She bites!
