Many of us are engaged in an ongoing quest to discover our true selves, whether we realize it consciously or not. Our hectic lives often amplify this longing. Occasionally, we pause and come to the realization that we're trapped in a relentless cycle, seemingly making no progress and drifting away from our authentic selves and purpose.

This realization intensifies our desire to reconnect with our authentic essence or find something real and meaningful in the external world that resonates with us. Regrettably, what we frequently fail to acknowledge is that we are in a perpetual connection with ourselves. Yet, we frequently lose the ability to fully immerse ourselves in our own experiences – to relish a moment, savor the taste of food, or marvel at the beauty of a sunset. Our minds are constantly racing ahead, fixated on what needs to be done next, rather than embracing the present moment. This disconnecting from the present erodes our link to our true selves, leaving us uncertain about our identity.
Instead of devoting time to self-discovery, we often start to see ourselves through the filter of other people's opinions, ultimately leading to our own self-destruction.
With these thoughts swirling in my mind, I composed a brief reflection:
Letting go of the past and getting detached from that cliché at last
My old self was miserable and kind
Not knowing what she would do if they didn’t like her back
The only thing she knew was of a place
Where she could go and weep her eyes out
Now she is confident and Kind
Knowing she would simply “Let them” if they ever hated her for being herself
Or talked behind her back
She has been guided and raised
Now she only cries because she has someone to call out
