Steam rises, blurring the mirror's gaze,

Scalding water hisses, drowning the ache,

Skin stings, yet I stand, unflinching, firm,

Salt on my lips, bitter but cleansing,

The scent of heat lingers, purging shame, erasing pain.

This poem is a striking exploration of cleansing and renewal. The imagery is vivid and the language is evocative. The juxtaposition of the physical act of bathing with the emotional cleansing is particularly powerful. The final lines, "Salt on my lips, bitter but cleansing, / The scent of heat lingers, purging shame, erasing pain," are particularly resonant, suggesting a cathartic experience. A truly impactful piece.
