Puppy Love

What We Built Before We Understood

Adorable, cute, cheesy, young.

Random—

but true.

Staring wisdom eye to eye,

fortune-telling our fortunes,

sharing a single sidewalk

with little space—

paths intertwined,

fearless

as if time didn’t exist.

Lackluster efforts

and poor decisions

build beautiful structures,

as if bad

is more sturdy than good.

Eager hearts chase

unrealistic ideals,

formed by the weightless vision

of situational youth—

and still,

somehow,

that stiffness bends.

We cherish moments

because they fill unfulfilled holes—

suddenly stuffed

by the presence of another,

a gift:

the feeling of belonging.

Fair is a fortune

for the fortunate.

But love?

Love is possible for all.

And happiness?

It comes when freedom is achieved—

regardless of status,

or struggle.

So continue.

Follow love.

It tends to lead

to self-worth.

And sometimes,

happiness.
