Dripping with excitement
Pulsing life and blood coursing through my veins
I don't want to be confined or restricted
I don't want to obey or listen to the rules
I just want to play and push the limits
Let me be free and flexible
Let me glide through to exhilarating doorways
Let me see new things
Let me feel new feelings
Don't tell me no or yes or something in-between
Let me burst forth and sing praises
Let me shout loudly to the beat of the rhythm
Nothing holding me back
Just that which encourages me to be lively and myself
Pulling off all the things in life that hold me back
Stripping down to the bare minimum
The basics are sometimes the best
Freedom and life well-lived
Joys and mysteries unfold and then jump onto the floor
Tasting delight again and again
Until life's last breath and finale summons the end

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.
