A swipe as you ignore what your heart and soul are screaming at you.

They're relentless; so is your mind.

I try to catch your eye, but there's pain behind those red spots

Where you've been crying.

I don't know what the mirror told you,

But you shouldn't believe it;

Those things are vengeful and would take your place

As soon as you let them.

The preciousness of every breath is ignored by their carelessness

I hope you know that I see you.

I'll smash that mirror;

Or pass you the hammer to begin with

Whichever, however, whenever you prefer.

No matter what -

I'll know you as the worthiest of joy.

Remember there is so much more than the whispers of mirrors

They can only reflect what you show them -

Only ever speaking what your mind tries to tuck away under the covers,

So scream at it,

And you'll recognise your symphonies in their echoes;

Remember the fragility of glass against broken walls

Breathe and relish what the mirror does not have;

Those dreams you keep sacredly,

And the bravery you continue moving with.

    This poem really spoke to me as I have a hard time looking myself in the mirror sometimes. I especially liked the line “Remember the fragility of glass against broken walls”. Whether real or figurative mirrors, they only have the power over us that we give them. Nicely done, and congrats on the Top Story.
