Proud To Be An American

Proud to be an American

I must defend our country

Not only from those who haven't fought for this great land

But apparently for those that have as well

I come from a military family

My father fought in the Korean War

My wife's father fought on the front lines of the Battle of the Bulge

Our murdered son fought on the front lines of Desert Storm

My father in-law received two bronze stars for his service

My son received three bronze stars for his service

Our youngest son went in the military at 17 years old after he graduated from high school

I once had a TDY to Egypt during Desert Storm when a plane was down

He hesitated to let me use his machine to make my part

I reminded him we were both on the same side

My son was fighting the war in Iraq

He let me do my job

Must I remind all of you that post about the current ADMINISTRATION

We are still Americans

And we still are the greatest country in the entire world

Men have fought and died for this Great Country

I am ashamed to read of such hate for our countries leaders

We can do better than this, - My Fellow Americans

WE ARE AMERICANS -!!!!

This might not get top story, like the one I read today, bashing our country and its leadership, however, it is a story that needed to be written.

One more edit, I would like to dedicate this Top Story to first of ALL AMERICANS WHO LOVE THEIR COUNTRY - Secondly to ALL THAT HAVE SERVED IN THE AMERICAN ARMED FORCES - DECEASED AND LIVING and Thirdly to my own family member deceased and living that have served in the military and fought for this great countries freedom and principles.

1. I am 20 years retired military, and I proudly stand up, and my name is reitred Sgt. Gregory E. Payton

2. My father is Sgt. Earl Payton, retired after 20 years active duty, and he served in Korea and Viet Nam. He died and was buried with full military honors in 1994.

3. My father in-law, Sgt Robert Werkheiser, who served honorable during World War II, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. He received 2 bronze stars for his military service.

4. My step-son, Richard L Jacobs Jr. who served his country honorably and fought on the front lines of Desert Storm, in a heavy artilery unit. He returned home from that war and was murdered in 2015, he was 44 years of age. He received 3 bronze stars for his service in the military.

5. My step-son Robert K Jacobs, who went into the military at the tender age of 17, and who served honorably for 2 years.

I am extremely proud of each and every one of my family members and every American who served and fought for the freedoms that are afforded each and every citizen of the Untied States of America.
