Army green … blood stains —

I warn … but child hastes for gun …

bullets shred his guts ...

Caption

Inspired by a survivor’s testimony of the 1989 attack in San Salvador, El Salvador. A soldier was killed. A child, moved by fear or duty, ran for the fallen rifle. The witness warned him not to. The child picked up the gun. The enemy opened fire. His guts were shredded by machine gun bullets.

This haiku is a ceremonial ledger entry — honoring the prophet’s warning, the child’s fatal haste, and the mythic echo of war’s ruin.
