A bog in Stijfveen —

peat hides Yde Girl’s red hair …

and neck with slipknot …

Caption

Yde Girl (/ˈiː.də/ — “EE-duh”) was discovered in 1897 in the Stijfveen (/ˈstɛif.feɪn/ — “STIFE-vane”) peat bog near Yde, Netherlands. Her body, preserved by acidic peat, revealed red hair, a woolen cape, and a slipknot around her neck—signs of ritual death. She now resides in the Drents Museum.
