Prodigal child returns

"Journey of Redemption: A Prodigal's Return"

By Ifeoluwa BamgbayePublished 2 years ago 1 min read

Dearest Mother, in shadows I've roamed,

A prodigal child, far from home.

In distant lands, I sought my way,

Yet your love's beacon, it did sway.

Through tempests wild, and nights so dark,

Your memory was my guiding spark.

Each whispered prayer, each tear you shed,

Lingered with me, where'er I tread.

In echoes of laughter, I heard your voice,

A soothing balm, a guiding choice.

Your lessons, etched deep in my soul,

Are the compass that guides me toward my goal.

I stumbled, I fell, lost my way many times,

Yet the strength you instilled in me climbs.

With every sunrise, a chance to begin,

To leave behind shadows, let forgiveness in.

Oh, Mother, your grace, your enduring love,

Is a beacon, a lifeline, sent from above.

Through trials and tribulations, I've grown,

But always, your love, like a river has flown.

Now, humbled, I stand at your door,

Seeking forgiveness, your love to restore.

The prodigal child, weary and wise,

Longs for the warmth of your loving eyes.

Embrace me, dear Mother, let healing begin,

For you are the heart where I've always been.

In your arms, I find solace and peace,

A sanctuary where my soul finds release.

Together we'll mend what was torn apart,

A story of redemption, a brand-new start.

For your love is the anchor that grounds my soul,

The beacon that guides me, making me whole.

Forever grateful, forever your own,

This prodigal child, now fully grown.

With love that's unending, with heart that's true,

I'll cherish and honor the gift that is you.

This is so beautiful. I lost my mom seven years and two days ago. Your poem, so eloquently made me thankful that we had never drifted apart (like my mom and sister did). Thank you for reminding me of my mom's love.
