For Gabriel's challenge for an
"introspective reflection on your creative process"
I'm looking in to see if I have an ounce or two of method in the way I manage my chaos...Do I now?
I know my inspiration often comes in spurts. Even though I would like say logic dictates...That is not how!
In daily walks of life, such as a stroll down Aisle 2 at the local grocery, my mind plays pop-up memory with me.
I wonder what stories unfold in your recall box when your eyes lock on a box of cinnamon chai tea?
We all have wondrous tales to tell and all that we hold dear. Sometimes we have dreadful, awful ones, too.
Oh, how those thoughts come to life and bounce around making our yellows smell like lemons and our hearts turn so blue.
So, for me, and I wonder...you too? Do you rush home to capture those "stills" with pen and a purpose?
Are you also a memory keeper or preparing a writ of habeas corpus?
Does your "writing it down" make you feel better?
Is it a release of some kind, like a sappy love letter?
All of the above would have to be my answer,
Drawn in like an exotic belly dancer!
Maybe that's why my words jiggle and shake
they don't have much discipline, make no mistake.
Too old to be mindful or apologetic, I fear...
I am not champagne...maybe closer to beer.
So, on the keyboard I honestly just peck
And think, well, that's life, so just what the heck!

So cute, I loved this!!
Oh this is so wonderfully fun and clever! Love the rhyming that doesn’t sound forced at all. It all makes complete and utter sense to me. There is no clear path to creativity is there? Great poem 😍
Not sure if tea has ever inspired me this much...but I understand the sentiment. Brilliant!
Hahahaha pecking at the keyboard, that made me chuckle. Loved your poem!
This is wonderful, funny, relatable, and so full of charm. You’ve captured exactly how inspiration really works.
Like a dance through your story writing approach, Shirley. I often think of stories while doing everyday things. When I do, I jot down some lines on my iPhone so that I can pick up the threads later
