Pride; Countless

Pride

By Edward DanielPublished 5 years ago 1 min read
Pride; Countless

Count count count

Shout if you want

The numbers that have fallen

The ones that are forgotten

This disease that beckons

This disease that inflicts, contrived

Now huddled in the corner

Anaemic in its plight

It wouldn’t be so contrite

If I had not witnessed

If I not been a party

If I had not seen it all

And now years on as we gather together

To celebrate in our grand unison

Of the biases that once was

I wonder what colour

The colour that stains

And masks those that forbore

I wonder what painful moments

We will encounter once more

The litmus test that held us back

The sacred nature of our yearnings

And as I attend this Pride march once more

I remain humbled

For now I enjoy the fruits decades later

And the colour of our action

Matters no more
