You said you were dying.

Practically dead, but not quite.

A chance that life was somehow on your side.

It's not what you said

but that's all I heard.

Then I didn’t hear anything else for awhile,

That silent blur of noise in movies was my actual life.

It killed off our family.

One member, one organ, one cell at a time.

The images of dead grandparents pushing its way to the front of my mind.

Choking on tears and fear

I picture my brother's funeral.

A silent group of friends, family plastered in black clothing.

In class, I look around wondering

How long I have before their gazes are filled with "Sorry."

Then a fast look away.

Wanting to retreat out of the situation.

As I want to retreat of the nightmare cycle that continues.

How long before we go from 5 to 4

Wondering if his death would pull us closer

It killed off our family.

I watch it slowly kill off my brother.

Adding him to the list of victories.

Cancer takes place when there is an overgrowth in cells

Its like the cells loved the body.

That love turning toxic as they reproduced too fast.

Creating cancer.

Cancer loves my brother

So much it's decided they will die together

Cancer loves my brother

Secretly signed a contract stating, ‘Til death do, we part.’

Cancer loves my brother

Its decision to love him to death kills more than just my brother

And if my love could save him like cancer is killing him ...

But I can't because..

Cancer loves my brother

And there’s nothing I can do to make it stop

Cancer loves my brother

I‘m stuck.

I'm stuck hoping for the best.

I'm stuck hoping while watching him rot.
