Predator of The Heart

A player looking for prey.

You walk into the room like you own it,

Your eyes scanning til they locked mine.

Piercing through my soul,

Pecking at the secrets I tried to bury deep.

It all happened in a matter of seconds,

Before you moved on to your next prey.

The rest of the night my eyes never let you out of sight,

Watched you turn each person’s soul into buckets of jelly with a glance, An accident touch,

A misplaced smile.

They followed you like a pack of sex starved wolves,

Hungering for a love you would never give.

Longing for the day they could be consumed by you,

Knowing that it will never happen,

Knowing you are just looking for your next victim to leave helpless in the wind,

Knowing you are only a predator of the heart.

I got up and left before you come back to me,

In spite the air of mystery that surrounds you embrace that tries to pull me near.

Regardless of the hot lust that races through my veins,

I leave the place despite the longing and small regret,

Because deep inside I knew I wouldn’t be a victim to the predator of the heart.
