Prayer to Luna
A coming-of-age poem

It’s been so long
Since I’ve seen
Your silver glaze
Ice the lake
It’s not you
It’s me
***
A secret revealed
Amid whispers
And grimaces
One that I refused
To believe
At first
***
I long for your full face
Creamy and so close
In the night sky
Owl hoots
Cricket chirps
I miss
***
It’s no longer safe
Not yet, Mother says
Your time has come
No longer a boy
But not just
A man
***
She keeps me inside
While fur disturbs
My smooth skin
Teeth elongate
Then I’m me again
Help
***
Deep in my gut
I know one day
I’ll sing to you like before
Keeper of tides and rotation
My night goddess
Luna

Oh, I like this take on the Challenge! A werewolf poem is very clever and definitely unlike the other entries that I have seen thus far. Well done, Maria.
