I am black,
Mixed, like...
All the colours of the rainbow
Black like the shadows in my closet
Skeletons that hold secret of my sexuality
Bisexually Labelled, Awakening Cultural Knowledge
Red
Like the tears I’ve cried for equality, I
Read Every Day
In the newspapers
Of their journals journeying sunsets
Orange
Like the monarch butterfly, transforming I
Opened RANGE
Going to where the flame felt the warmest,
But the moths to my flame
Led to the pores of my skin tamed
Yellow
Like the sun, finding golden linings, I
YELL LOW
Til’ I found pride inside
Yearning Epiphanies Laced with Love Opening Waterfalls
Green
Like the grass on my side of the picketing fence
for the rights we deserve
To be served & protected
Not neglected as defected
Groups Riot Energetically Expanding Negotiations
I mean
Grown Roots Elevating Erect Networks
Are you listening to our American dream
Blue
Skies
Like the message is clear
The reflection in our tears, oceans of our fears
Drained, while
Bystanders Look Up Edification
Purple
Like bruises trying to heal
After you feel
People Undermined your Radiance
trying to Play Lead roles
But your
Purpose is Pleading
Focus proceeding
Pushing you Right Past the Lost Exit
My story speaks of greatness, grated gradients, colours mixed and matched
Like a rubik's cube
Parts of me, used to be,
compartmentalized, organized & trapped in closets
Till the faucets
Brought me the pot of gold
at the end of the rainbow
About the Creator
Epiphany
My artist name is Inknown Epiphany, because all the answer reside within us. I started writing to bring my depths afloat & keep me from drowning in my rabbit hole thoughts. It’s nice to be saved by something that gives life to others.
