In Loving Memory

By Conor MatthewsPublished 9 months ago 1 min read
In Loving Memory of Poppy (Good Girl, Poppy. Good Girl)

There are never enough seconds,

Never enough kisses,

Never enough love,

To empty out the grief and pain of losing.

Losing friendship,

Losing love,

Losing moments,

Never to be repeated.

Loss is only for what you never had;

Memories never made,

Laughs and stories never shared,

And comfort yet to come.

In a way, life is nothing but death,

And love is the interval to heartache,

Yet it is a cold existence to know,

If you never know existing without.

And while grief may scar the soul,

It can only be cut in happiness,

Recalled in your most desperate solitude,

Where they’ll be there for you forever.
