Pop, crackle, snap.
The fire burns everbright, devouring all in its sight.
Flames encasing all around.
The house around me crumbling to ashes.
The smoke blinding me from seeing the havoc.
Falling objects tumble in front of me.
No way out, stuck in this hellscape.
I claw, scream, and beg.
“Why god, why?”
The smoke fades and all is clear.
Everything I held dear vanished.
Burn marks on my skin, wounds blistered.
Then I hear the words, ever so clear.
For new beginnings, things must end.
A clean slate to build a bigger, better world.
Fire and heat destroy.
Pain and tears follow.
Alas, so does a fresh, clean path.
About the Creator
Kristina Brule
I have loved writing since I can remember. I used to write songs and poems all the time growing up. I have two poetry books and one fiction book published. Every little thing I write has pecies inside of me that show who I am
