We Are Turning...And I Have to Write Another Haiku

By Kendall Defoe Published a day ago 1 min read
The Turning

Another cold day...

The news turns to the public.

January burns.

Note: I am not trying to be cryptic with my work. And I am not so desperate to think that any words will make a difference now. I just feel that this is a turning point that I predicted when more idiots with weapons were unleashed in the streets of Minnesota. And some people say they are angry or enraged. If you are, and you are not doing anything about it...you are not angry enough.

-K.D.

Correct!

This is such a good haiku, though I hate that it has to be written. I've been mulling over how to write on this and find that there just aren't words for it. You've captured it well!

We shouldn't have to feel this anger and fear. We were raised to believe we were the good guys. That we can be different and be safe here. Now I'm having night terrors of Tanned Uniformed Nazis dragging my dark-skinned adopted daughter out of her school. I live in a rural area in Tennssee and we are SURROUNDED by people who are applauding the violence ICE is bringing. How can they think they are there to keep Americans safe when they are quite literally killing us on the streets for protecting each other and exercising our right to speech? I'm a hyphen's space away from yanking all of my kids from school and homeschooling them until this is over. We've been looking into maybe leaving the country. Going somewhere... SAFER. Lol. As a thoroughbred American. I NEVER thought I would think to myself: Maybe we need to flee America to keep my children safe.

Indeed…..the brutality of some men’s souls, burns to the quick.

  • Hate to say I think JD is worse than Trump-and people still like him

Yes, we are indeed turning. I don’t know yet where we will end up but I hope TACO chickens out again and recalls his goons from Minnesota.
