A whisper soft, a gentle sigh,
A drop, unseen, beneath the eye.
It promises a swift release,
A silent, all-encompassing peace.
In gilded cup, or hidden bloom,
It lurks within a scented room.
A bitter truth in sugar's guise,
Reflected in unseeing eyes.
It steals the breath, it chills the vein,
A creeping shadow, numb with pain.
The vibrant hue begins to fade,
A life unmade, a price unpaid.
A silent hunter, sly and deep,
While unsuspecting victims sleep.
It weaves its web of slow decay,
And steals the very light of day.
So be aware, and be so wise,
Of beauty that can truly lie.
For poison's charm, though sweet it seems,
Will shatter all your fragile dreams.

This poem really captures the insidious nature of poison. It makes me think about how something that seems harmless, like sugar or a pretty bloom, can be so dangerous. Have you ever seen or heard of a situation where someone was deceived by the appearance of something poisonous? It's a scary thought how easily our perception can be wrong.
