Poetry and strawberry jam
Strawberry senryū poetry

A strawberry poem made up by four Senryu poems:
I pick strawberries,
Strawberries and cream I have
Sweetness in my mouth
~~~
I pick strawberries
Strawberry first or cream first?
Let the scones decide
~~~
Strawberry ice-cream
Mix with milk for a milkshake
No ice for me, please!
~~~
A strawberry tart
Escape from the Queen of Hearts
And went to have tea
~~~
What came first, strawberry poetry or strawberry jam?
🍓Strawberry Jam
Making my own strawberry jam can be a sweet poetic adventure. If you also want to try to make your own you will need:
• 2 cups of freshly picked strawberries (hulled and halved, you can buy them from your local store or local market, too, of course)
• 1 cup of granulated sugar
• 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
The fun part: let’s make strawberry jam! (not as fun as eating it, though)
1. In a saucepan, combine the strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice.
2. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the strawberries release juice.
3. Use a potato masher to crush the berries as they soften.
4. Simmer for 20–25 minutes, stirring frequently, until it thickens.
To test the jam: place a drop on a cold plate and if it wrinkles when pushed, it’s ready.
Pretty easy, right? Let the jam cool at room temperature, then transfer to a clean jar and refrigerate. It keeps up to 2 weeks in the fridge.
I will use this strawberry jam as part of my new favourite breakfast and at-home Afternoon Tea simplified: tea and toast with homemade strawberry jam. Perhaps I make some scones next time. Enjoy! :)

I'm not a fan of strawberries so can I have a plain milkshake without those strawberries, pretty pleaseeee? Hehehehehe. Loved your Senryus!
Nicely done! Strawberry jam with pound cake sounds yummy right about now... :))
Clever poem! I also love your recipe! We eat so much jam, I should try making it!
