Little flower by the path

A lesson on strength and will. Inspired by a little pink flower I saw

How does she grow there? Photo by Susan Fourtané

I saw a little flower by cobbled stone

With roots in cracks, it stands alone.

No garden bed, no gentle care,

Just dust and wind, sun and rain.

Strangers stare, the sun too harsh,

Yet the little flower, in pink, shines.

Each petal perfect, so small and round,

No gentle water,

Only harsh rain from the sky.

A quiet will, a will to live

Strong, tenacious, I hear a voice:

“I may be small, but I belong.”

And here, the rest of her family —Photo by Susan Fourtane

I always wonder how nature takes care of its own, yet we have to take care of us...I wish i were that flower...sitting still as nature nourishes me. Hoping no one pluck me from my happy place. I love the depth of the words. Lovely.

Keep taking all these pictures, Susan. I love to see them 😍 It makes me feel sorry for that little pink flower. That it gets a beating from harsh rain. Yet still, look how beautiful it is. I suppose the harshest climate, makes us all very beautiful. Just like that pink flower, though sweaty. But hey! Oh that last line was medicine to my little heart. I may be small but I belong. This was uplifting, informative and soul hugging. Thank you for writing this! 🤗❤️👌🏾👏🏾

  • A great reminder that everything and everyone matters!! A wonderful write, Susan.
