Poems of a Valley Child.

A Collection of small poems.

#1

An Angel sings across the sea,

in her sweet land of ecstasy.

Oh, this land of wonder I seek,

might be what I dreamt last week.

#2

Go take your life back

from out of their hands.

Time to plan your attack,

Whether field, sea or sands.

Imagine the death blow

that will fell your enemy.

Then aim your sword low,

And give them your mercy.

#3

When lived as life is meant:

The earth will smile; content.

For if a soul contains the song

that guides the lost along:

I should rest in gleeful shock

until returned to dust and rock.

#4

Peeled and peeled, the orange squash gasps.

“Help, my skin, my dear old shield; it is being flayed from my flesh!”

cut and cut, the resigned yam rasps,

“Next I will be roasted alive, yet I shall go easy, for my resolve has quite left me.”

#5

Two lonely pieces of forgotten toast.

In solitude and darkness they stay.

Gasping for breath that they have never needed.

and yet, chests heave, throats are clawed.

We forget that everything has its ghost.

#6

As the willow does weep,

The small child does sleep.

A harsh scream does sound,

From dreams of being drowned.

The breath of their life,

Halted by Time’s knife.

It puts them to rest,

to dream of all the best.

#7

Soft sounds: Snow snuggling; sand sliding. Sincere souls singing sad songs.

Sorrowful storming seas, standing still since silence sounded.

#8

Time will stand still, like a wave as it crests.

Yet when it starts flowing, it crashes, and hardly rests.

#9

I see a child in the clouds. His crown of rainbows bright.

He gazes down upon the crowds of leaves and lakes of light.

Always singing his lonely tune; the wind a gentle hum.

And when the silence dawns too soon, the world will beat its mighty drum.

#10

I want to know how the dew drop sings.

I want to gaze at the eye of the sun.

I want to weave the spider's strings.

I want to race the Cheetah's run.

#11

Do you hear the faeries calling?

Does it thrill you into falling?

When the song of the earth keeps roaring,

Will you stop the chorus from soaring?

#12

On an Isle far away.

I hear it calling as I lay.

Far from conscious, far from sleep.

I hear its cry, faint yet deep.

#13

I sketch a whole world onto these thin pages.

Those words I set flying from their flesh covered cages.

These lives that I write from tales of you and me;

Lives sculpted from paper, paper made from a tree.

#14

My dialogue is splendid, or maybe just past tolerable.

Perhaps my plot is terribly limpid and my storyline quite horrible.

But I have a stairwell inside my soul,

and if I climbed it just so high.

I might hear that mystical toll

announcing a lifetime gone by.

#15

Those people you see with the smiles so wide.

Those are the ones with the storms inside.

#16

This rain that washes the smoke from our sky.

This wind that conquers ashes. The end they signify.

This all-consuming fire that sweeps our earthen floor.

For ruthless glory is its sire.

yet the rain calls it a bore.

#17

Observe the ribbons flowing with heat upon their smouldering coals.

Texture like silk as they danced to the beat in a reunion of lost souls.

#18

Beauty beats with a heart.

Beauty born as you breathe.

Beauty sharp as a dart.

Beauty in the soul beneath.

Your features although flawed,

promise depths to be thawed.

For what is more beautiful,

than a soul that is hopeful.
