Darkness, at first.
It's all consuming.
It eats everything it swallows.
Sound.
The silence has never been this loud
ringing in your ears.
Objects.
You can't even see what's in front of you.
Darkness has weight.
It can weigh you down
and hold you hostage.
Will there ever be light again?
Suddenly, a small flicker.
A spark
reaching out to ignite anything it can touch.
A warmth suddenly
in the pit of your stomach.
What a funny feeling . . .
A floating sensation.
Fireflies.
They light up around you,
glowing and warming the darkness.
Slowly,
the glow grows into bright light.
Everything around you is illuminated.
Suddenly
the world isn't so dark
so black and white.
It's full of radiant
color.
