Ploughing Fields of Fury and Thought

For #200 and Abecedarian Challenges.

By Paul StewartPublished 2 years ago Updated 2 years ago 1 min read
Created with the help of ChatGPT...I'm happy with it.

Author's Notes: Stephen A. Roddewig, suggested that L.C.'s recent Top Story Abecedarian, Hitting Snooze on the New Year could be entered with a little tweaking for the #200 also. That got me thinking...and here it is...my attempt to kill two birds with one stone.

Extra-Author's Notes: There is a deliberate thing...can anyone spot it...it seems off...but it's very deliberate.

***

aspirations for the year, what might they be?

bargaining with words to what end we'll see

creating and destroying, worlds and patterns

dissecting the...my deep innermost thoughts

enthusiastically attempting the impossible

feverishly trying to make it the plausible

grandiose tomes and subtler, slighter tales

hoping for glory, until expectation derails

inspiration never runs dry, so just keep on

just keep writing, writing right the wrong

keep ploughing fields of fury and thought

looking back on the past twelve, I ponder

many ups, downs, my nerves ripped asunder

never give up, they say, never give in

only got a chance, if I'm in it to win

past aside, focus on the future, improving

quality or quantity? proof's in the eating

realistically just aiming for the best

stylistic consistency always my quest

thunderous applause, or a hushed approval

unequivocally both appreciated, after perusal

voyueristically peering through my writing

wonder if you're gasping, crying or laughing

xenagogue - I'll be yours through it all

yearning for signs I've answered my call

zealously never reaching my creative zen

No wonder you called it that Paul. It’s a great line!! 😁

Love it, Paul! This is fantastic! It flowed really well! Love the "proof is in the eating" lol! Such a great line, and an equally great entry!

  • Oooo, xenagogue! That's a new word for me! I don't know what's your deliberate thingy 😅 Also, that hashtag, is that for Heather? Did I miss something?

  • Nicely done, Paul. I had a few possibilities for deliberate incongruity but I'm going with "quality or quantity? proof's in the eating" as we bibliophiles do tend to devour whatever we're reading.

  • This was great Paul. I'm curious did they let you enter it into both at the same time. Brilliant Idea

Brilliant! Loved the "wonder if you're gasping, crying or laughing xenagogue - I'll be yours through it all" part in thinking about 2024 going forward.

You captured V through Z wonderfully. I like the topic you chose, it was similar to my I’ll attempt, which I wisely scrapped
