Please Save Me

A tribute to 9/11 victim Melissa Doi

By Joe PattersonPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

Please somebody save me. I’m gonna die. I don’t wanna die.

I can’t breathe, please. I’m not at ease.

I can feel the air leaving my lungs.

I wanna live. Oh what I would give to make it out of here alive it’s not safe inside.

Is there help behind me? Is the rescue coming to find me?

I don’t wanna go. No, not this way. Please can I stay?

My fear reaches its peak as I feel myself getting weak.

I grow faint as I inhale all the smoke.

My voice is broke. No words, only a chorus of a cough and a choke.

I try to scream, but can they hear it?

Death? I think I’m near it.

I shouldn’t have doubt like this. I wanna make it out of this

The world around me is coming apart. This slow death is like a knife in my heart.

I know help is coming. I’m gonna lie down and get some rest.

Before I do, call my mother and tell her she was the best.

If I die in the smother please tell her I love her.

She was my greatest friend. I knew it until the very end.

I’ve fallen into a deep sleep. My conclusion is now.

The world around is crashing down, but I don’t hear a sound.

I’ve been raptured into the other side.

I didn’t know this morning would be my last ride.

I wanna live…I wanna stay…I wanna stay…I wanna stay.

To my greatest girl. I’ll see you in the next world.

It was very sweet of you to write this for her, this way she can stay with us through these words and that phone call. It really gets you thinking about your own life, if you’re grateful enough for it. She’s here, just in a different way. Thank you for writing about her.
