Playing My Cards

Filling In the Cracks

By Heather DonaldPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

Sometimes I want to fold in my hand

Call it a night and send home the band

Take the loss, give up and check out

Bow down and give the devil his clout

He’ll give me wings as dark as my soul

Take my heart and fill me with coal

Furtive glances before a kiss

With those that matter I don’t exist

Words can be pretty, lovely and sweet

With no action it’s just platitudes on repeat

Sharp words cut deep, spiteful and cruel

To make me feel ashamed and make me look the fool.

But I will play my hand for you, I see through you.

You’re broken like me, together we are Kintsugi
