The Caribbean coastline of the Yucatan Peninsula

is famous for its beautiful beaches,

clear blue water and diversity of wildlife.

but under the surface of the water lies a different story

But s the world continues to churn out millions of tons

As the world continues to churn out millions of tons

of plastic each year, more and more of it ends up in our oceans and in our shores.

This article follows diver Tamara Adame

as she battles the growing plastic waste

that plagues Yucatan's reefs, marine life

and even her own livelihood.
