Pinocchio

A Poem

By Angel AdagioPublished about a year ago 1 min read

As long as it’s not you, there’s nothing to lose.

As long as your heart is not being toyed like Pinocchio, there’s nothing wrong.

As long as you are in control, everyone has a role

and you are the only one who has a say in what we all do, even if it’s all so very cruel

you made the rules.

Flip the switch,

change the script,

the words shift

and the love ceases to exist.

Baring a heart out for you to feast on viciously was my biggest mistake

never again will I be entrapped by the puppeteer who can’t even remember how they started.

You may pull the strings on those who you want to seduce,

but Pinocchio became a real boy

no strings attached anymore.

Free at last.

I love the Pinocchio analogy! This is masterful writing. Very intentional.

  • Evocative thoughts, and an incredible ear for the words you're using. "Flip the script, change the script, the words shift" was such a fun sequence of lines to read aloud. Keep it up!
