Pickled Parked Prayers
A Poem About Hiding Away
When the land gets too crowded
Too loud, leaving me dumbfounded
Don’t come looking
Forget I exist
•
Leave me ten minutes of any day (please)
To lock myself away
Just toss my image out
So that I can whisperingly shout
•
Just sit in the parked car
Even if it’s not at all far
Right outside the front door
It’s where I’ll be for sure
•
Lights off, music on
Hiding in plain sight
Where I can breathe
A place where I’m not needed
•
A moment to sigh
A second to close my eyes
And not need to be anything
Or anyone
•
Not far, but for a moment, not anywhere at all
•••
