A series of musings, in haiku form, on the popular racquet sport that's rapidly supplanting tennis in suburbia.

Pickleball is fun.

It is a lot like tennis,

but with smaller balls.

***

Yellow, green, and white,

wiffle balls, essentially,

lots of holes in them.

***

Instead of racquets,

They use paddles - kind of like

opaque racquetball.

***

Serves are underhand,

the scoring doesn’t make sense,

and it’s rough on knees.

***

As for volleying,

keep your feet behind the line

or you’ll lose the point.

***

There he goes again,

stepping over the serve line,

ball still in the air.

***

You should know by now:

Pickleball is confusing.

Why's it so unclear?

***

Who serves when, from where?

I can't keep up anymore.

Just hit the damn ball!
