Phoenix Sonnet

Burning words form the shadows of our chapters

By Meredith HarmonPublished 4 months ago 1 min read
Molten poetry. Image made with Craiyon AI.

Lines ‘twixt ash and pain, blur in memory,

No one will approach, when plans go awry,

Light dreams of shadows it will never see,

Who asks the phoenix, if it hurts to die?

***

Rebirth, such a sketchy thing, does not wait,

Fire’s light leaves no message on the wall,

Bright and dark balance, leaving chance to fate,

Cinder drops splatter, pieces of me fall.

***

With twist of current, umbral contours twine,

Past and future meet, in the present tense,

Flash point limns the night, ombré’s edge divine,

Photonic life dies, when meets resistance.

***

Gray matter goes dark, no moon will arise,

Sleep in death of hope, wait for sun to rise.
