The Song Of Winter

**

The smell of the dirt

As the mist kisses the ground

Air and earth flirt

While the breeze blows changes around

Bites of rain falls

With small hints of crystal

Clinging for life to the walls

frozen bullets in pistols

Surrendering will

Giving way to its slumber

Peacefully still

While its predecessor takes over

Warm breath forming clouds

Exhilarating release

Her tinsel enshrouds

Providing a blanketed peace

Gatherers and hunters

Prepare for the freeze

They shake and they shutter

At the drop in degrees

But Mother Nature provides

Deep within she instills

And she lovingly sits beside

Warming them of their chills

A natural process

And nature plays along

As the wind in the trees

Sing its lullaby song

I am so glad you chose this word. I featured it in one of my stories last month. It is such an elegant word and your poem does it complete justice., Nice work Kelli.

Immediate sensory experience 😍 'Earth flirt' oh this is so nice on the ear, and the tongue. There's something so soft and pleasing, about the way you wrote this. Warm breath forming clouds. I felt like I am being placed into the scene you are describing. I especially like how you included the gatherers and hunters. As they must depart to prepare for the freeze. I am blown away. You kept the rhythm locked till the end. Loved this, ' as the wind in the trees, Sing it's lullaby song' 🤗❤️
