A poem about growing up 12/04/2022 9:46PM
Dolce & Gabbana light blue
when we swam in the pool.
He’d twist my earrings
and gave me his sweatshirt (sorry)
while you made rumors
thinking he was my boyfriend
(He wasn’t)
Burberry HER during winter
I wanted to smell sweet,
Like strawberries and Cotten candy
You wanted to lick it off me
But I wouldn’t let you
(It’s far too bitter)
Glossier You was my first molecular scent
I wanted my body chemistry to sparkle
To be the pretty girl everyone admired
Of course, the wrong ones did
I wanted my skin to feel like a home
Not a vacation
(milk and honey)
Chanel Eau Tendre
two feet “love is a bitch” over my whispers
You wished it would never be over
I brought it with me now that I’m away
(in bubble wrap, since it was expensive)
Philosophy fresh cream
Shaking and nervous not to hurt me
When you zipped up my collar
Wanted me to spritz it on yours
Again and again
(I know you never washed your shirt)
It’s ok that you kept that part of me.

It begins with a twinkle of a thought, then morphs into something I’d never think of.
