Perfect Nights

Perception

The stars……… staring deeply into the darkness

their mystery……. taking me to a far away place

Connecting the dots….. creating endlessly

Like a childhood favorite game bringing a smile to my face.

The night sounds ……surrounding me in a serenity unknown in daily life.

It's a music-lover's favorite song……

One heard a million times but can never grow old.

A natural lullaby that calms all worries.

The cool air tickles……. and is a whisper in the wind.

A gentle caress…..like the soothing sensation of lotion on dry skin.

It's the comfortable weight of a hug from a loved one.

A pair of Lips that kiss my cheek softly.

Fresh breathes…..watching my exhale plume in the crisp air.

Breathing in the scent of the earth…….. untrampled ground, leaves, fallen limbs from a tree.

Healing intake of cool freshness…….

The taste can only be described as quenching water after extreme thirst.

The heat of burning wood…….warming tired old bones.

Mesmerizing, flickering colors cascading different shades of light.

Getting lost in watching the dancing flames of a campfire.

Trickling water, forever moving…… gliding and changing all the time.

Singing songs with consistent fluidity.

Refreshing my soul with the calmness of nature.

Because comfort lies in perception.

About the Creator

Bridgette A Mercer-Jamgochian

I remember writing children's books when I was a still a child myself, stapling the notebook pages together to create the binding for my book. I know many children have probably done this, but have any of them wanted it as bad as I did?
