Perfect In Its Pure Imperfections

Patch after patch after patch

A picture speaks a thousand words

And in this picture I see the plans of the Architect,

Unfinished, a work in progress

Constantly changing

Our world.

***

Do you believe in a Creator

Be that a belief

A spiritual

Or a natural beginning?

***

Well here my friend is the proof

Of a world built one part at a time

Much in the same way as a patchwork quilt

As pieces are tacked on as needed

A world expansion.

***

This picture shows the finished patches

But if you’ll look closely

What else do you see?

***

I see patchwork squares unfinished

Although the trowel lines of the glue are in place

Just waiting for the magical creator

To tack down the next patch

To continue the work in progress.

***

Mother Nature working in its finest

As it moulds each addition

Imperfect in its curved lines

Each addition or patch a different size

A different shape

Perfect alone

But magical when consolidated.

***

Our world, our paradise

An ever changing miracle of creation

Patch added to patch

Areas redesigned

Parts left for nature to reclaim.

***

All in all

Perfect in its pure imperfections!

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
