Peace with Time

At the end of days.

Some age ago, when I was younger,

I did not notice, because I did not hunger

For those summer days that were once mine,

But now belong to that creature: Time.

~*~

Time crept in slow,

And has dealt to me this mortal blow,

To watch friends and lovers wilt and die,

And leave behind no one else, but I.

~*~

I cannot lay blame,

On those wretched hands that spin in vain.

The son of Cronos has committed no crime,

It is his duty, that relentless: Time.

~*~

Time, Time plays on,

A conductor with a heavy baton,

Who leads us in our eternal dance,

So we might live just once, perchance.

~*~

Perchance the mountains crumble to crust,

When the rivers dry and turn to dust,

When the sun expires with a final breathe,

And our universe is naught but death,

He shall look on, still in his prime,

To bear witness this final decline,

And to draw through life a thick, black line,

That ceaseless force, that father: Time.

~*~

~*~

The reaper comes now with grim intent,

But weep not for me, my days are spent,

Let my eyes close and my spirit climb,

For I have made my peace with Time.

This reminded me of a quote that says.. 'there's one thing I've learned about life.. It goes on..' Time, It only trudges on and the best we can do is live, play our parts before the show is over :) beautiful piece.
