Peace of Mind

What remains when I stop fighting

By Lindsey UmfressPublished 4 months ago 1 min read

Peace of mind

that you tried to take away.

Peace with your lies,

designed to cause heartbreak.

Peace within —

I’ll never grant permission for you to come back in.

Peace with your devil —

I pray you stop letting it make you unhinged.

Peace with my old sins,

all repented for God’s win.

Peace in knowing God is in control.

Peace in knowing you think you win.

Peace in knowing you will keep fighting His will.

I pray for you — because if you continue this battle,

His wrath will be your end.

Peace in knowing I’m far from perfect.

Peace in wisdom that it doesn’t meet your fleshly standard.

Peace in knowing that’s why you attack.

Peace in knowing God flips it back.

Peace in knowing God is shaping me anew.

Peace in knowing if you allow Him, He’ll break those chains for you.

Peace in choosing to let go of pain.

Peace in finding strength to break the chain.

Peace in surrender — not defeat — of your silly goose games.

God’s cover has me blessed always.

Peace in your created chaos,

lifted to the Good Lord to fight.

Peace as I walk away,

continuing on toward His light.

Leaving you with your chains.

I’ll see you when you choose His ways.

Until then,

I’ll keep far from where the darkness stays.
