Peace & Comfort

By Ali Ward-Haddan

By Ali WhaPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Scolding water flows over my body, engulfing me with heat.

Standing there for a few minutes longer, soaking it in.

Turning off the water, I step out into the warm thick air.

Grabbing my soft, thick towel, I dry off the cooling water droplets.

Putting on my “Happy Camper” sweatshirt, my thick sweats, and my fuzzy warm socks.

Feeling the coziness all over my body makes me shiver.

Twisting my hair into a braid, as I make my cup of hot chocolate.

Tossing in some wood and kindling, the fire goes ablaze.

Taking a drink of my hot chocolate, I grab my current read.

Sitting down in my large chair that has been molded to fit my body perfectly.

Looking out the window, as the rain falls on the roofs outside.

Stroking Jaycee’s long soft hair as she lays next to me in my chair.

Sighing in a breath of relief, I sit there with a big smile on my face.

This is peace.

This is comfort.
